Heritage Training and Career Center in Montgomery, Alabama, offers programs and services to individuals living in low-income communities throughout a four county target area. We serve the communities of Autauga, Elmore, Macon and Montgomery counties.

Our vision is for all individuals to reach their maximum potential through active participation in a system of quality services and opportunities that enable them to make informed and responsible choices, acquire critical and marketable skills and be a healthy and caring member of their community.

Our programs and services include:

  • Job Readiness/Workforce Development Training – Targeted to clients with little to no work experience, training instructors assist clients in developing the work skills needed to find, acquire and maintain employment. The program includes instruction in the proper completion of job applications, resume development, appropriate work attire, successful interviewing, social skills development, professionalism and general workplace etiquette.

  • Job Placement Services Our job placement services include job referrals, employer recruitment, client follow-up and supportive services and retention tracking.


  • Fatherhood Program Services Targeted to non-custodial fathers, this program provides men of all ages with the tools needed to become  supporters of their children’s emotional, physical and financial needs to enhance the bond between parent and child. 

  • Adult Literacy / GED Program – All around the world, literacy has the power to change lives and transform communities. Equipped with basic reading and writing skills, individuals can find employment that will allow them to become self-sufficient supporters of their families.
 The Literacy/GED Program is conducted at Heritage Training Career Center in partnership with H. Council Trenholm State Technical College, one of Alabama’s largest two-year college system. The program helps to prepare learners on different functioning levels for the GED exam. The program is designed to offer opportunities for students to enhance basic skills in language, math, science, reading and writing.

Literacy is the road to human progress and the means through which every man, woman and child can realize his or her full potential.”  

Funded in Part by Dollar General Literacy Foundation the Adult Basic Education, Pre-GED and GED classes are conducted on Tuesdays and Thursdays (8:30 AM – 11:30 AM)

Reaching out to communities through Exemplary Services Initiatives and community based organizations.

The Beta Nu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (AKA), Montgomery ,AL continues to respond to the world's increasing complexity by empowering communities through exemplary service initiatives and progressive programs. Heritage Training and Career Center, Inc is the recipient of a grant from (AKA) to provide Economic Security Initiative Workshops. This effort expands the current programs related to wealth building and allocation of resources for the home ownership, estate planning, money management, Individual Development Accounts (IDAs), and the support and empowerment of female owned businesses.
